Albert King with Stevie Ray Vaughan

This is a tremendous recording of the master, and the master's
master. It all begins with a soaring 9:00 minute version of T-Bone Walker's Blues standard
"Stormy Monday". From the beginning, you know this will be a guitar battle to
end all. A quick 1:00 min studio blip with attitude, then off to set the stage for the
rest of the disc. SRV shows the utmost respect for his most obvious influence, yet Mr.
King is playful enough to play a very respectable rhythm part to the signature SRV song
"Pride and Joy". A quick 5:00 minute trip down B.B. King way with "Ask Me
No Questions". The disc has it all, including two little pep talks from the elder
statesman of the Blues. Originally recorded December 6, 1983 at the television studios of
CHCH in Hamilton, Ontario, It was eventually aired on a Canadian TV show called In
Session. Outstanding guitar work from beginning to end. |
