Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown
American Music Texas Style

|
What can you say about the Texas virtuoso that hasn't already
been said. I am always am humbled by the prowess this man possesses on many the many
instruments he masters. He forays into fiddle solos, and even cranks up the viola on
"Things ain't what they used to be". "Swamp Ghost" has more heart and
soul than any 10 people should be allowed to have. All through this CD the
"Gate" lets it swing like only he can. Authentic big time Texas Swing with all
of the trimmins, all night long, way past when the Longhorns come home. All of his music
is must have. There is not a bad tune on the entire disc. A tremendous version of
"Don't get around much anymore" Lush orchestrations against Mr. Brown's
tremendous sense of rhythm and punctuation. A class act through and through. |
