Gil Snyder and company have been a fixture in the Pittsburgh
music scene for quite a few years... filling clubs, and pleasing crowds many times over.
Although the names have changed to protect the innocent, one thing remains constant - Gil
"Duke" Snyder has been tearin' it up on the keys for decades. From before his
days with White Hot and Blue, all the way to today, he has poured out his heart and soul
almost nightly, and his experience is apparent. He easily steers the band like the cool
Dodge Coronet on the disc. If you want a genuine slice of the pure Pittsburgh sound, you
have found it here. Featuring the mighty Chizmo Charles on vocals, and local Blues legend
Big Daddy Balou handling the guitar duties. This CD has a lot to offer, even for the most
selective listener. My personal favorites are "Over The Hill", and
"Frankstown Lean". This disk reminds me of how many nights I have had the
pleasure of working with them. I owe many thanks to Gil for several great shows he did for
me at Spirit Harley-Davidson in Glenshaw, and the many times he graciously invited me work
with his band at a few of his high profile shows, including The Pittsburgh Blues Festival
in 2000. Great music is found throughout the entire disc. |
